Red Bull Racing Driver, David Coulthard, Brings F1 Sensation in a Real Show Run on the Public Road in Jeddah!

Red Bull Racing Formula 1 driver David Coulthard will perform a live show-run at 9:00pm, Friday March 7th, on Al-Tahliah Street in Jeddah, as part of a historic event, which is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia.

Jeddah F1 fans will have once in a lifetime chance to closely watch and experience the thrill and excitement of the world sport of Formula 1 when Al Tahliya Street in Jeddah will temporarily become a race track and a Red Bull Racing F1 car, driven by Coulthard, will start a show-run from the parking-lot at Al Basateen Center. The show run will finish at the traffic signal opposite to SAMBA building on the same street.

Red Bull Racing driver, David Coulthard (36), has won 13 Grand Prix titles so far during his F1 career, which began with the Spanish Grand Prix in 1994. Coulthard is the most successful British driver of all time in terms of F1 points scored, with a total of 527 to date. In addition to Red Bull Racing, Red Bull also has a second Formula 1 team, called Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Sony to sponsor ITV’s Formula 1

ITV has announced that Sony is the new sponsor for its Formula 1 2008 coverage.

The electronics company replaces Honda, which pulled out of the £2.5 million sponsorship after just one season.

Coverage begins with the 15 March Grand Prix in Australia. The deal was negotiated between ITV and Sony’s media agency OMD UK. Fallon will create sponsorship idents and Dare Digital will be responsible digital and mobile content.,

Mikah Martin-Cruz, the general manager, marketing, for Sony UK, said: "The sponsorship is a great opportunity for us to showcase our high definition offering in an engaging and entertaining way."

Audiences for last year’s coverage of F1 picked up owing to interest in UK driver Lewis Hamilton. They increased 41 per cent on the previous year.

Pepe Jeans to sponsor Renault F1 team

Clothing brand, Pepe Jeans London, agreed a three-year sponsorship deal with the Renault Formula 1 Racing Team.

Under the agreement, Pepe will be known as an official worldwide sponsor in return for prominent on-car branding, driver’s suits front-chest branding, team uniforms, garage panelling and drivers’ appearances.

Chetan Shah, Pepe Jeans London (India), said: “It makes us very proud to be a part of the Renault F1 team. We shall keep the energy and enthusiasm of Renault alive in India. With the rising fan following of F1 worldwide and now in India too it’s a great union”.

Formula 1, which runs 18 races across four continents, was watched by 2.73 billion viewers in 2007.

Book Ticket In Advance, F1 Fans Told

Malaysian die-hard F1 fans are advised to book their tickets early to avoid long queues and disappointment on race day on March 21.

Sepang International Circuit (SIC) senior general manager Datuk Azmi Murad said Malaysians had the tendency of buying their tickets at the last minute and he hoped this attitude would change.

SIC expected 125,000 spectators for the 10th edition race, he told a news conference after the official launch of the 2008 KLIA Transit F1 Transfer Package at KL Sentral here today.

On the F1 Transfer package, Aminuddin said its offered a package at RM80 per head for the race day and RM120 per head for the three-day package. A 50 per cent discount will be given for students and senior citizens.

"The fare includes a two-way high-speed train ride on KLIA Transit playing between KL Sentral and the KL International Airport (KLIA) and two-way bus shuttle between KLIA and SIC," he added.

Aminuddin said the package could be purchased at all ERL stations except Salak Tinggi.

Malaysian will be hosting the second round of the Formula 1 world championship on March 21-23, a week after the opening season in Australia.
